Y’all, I just finished looking at the astrology for 2026, and we in danger, girl. On December 21st, 2025, when the sun enters Capricorn for the astrological new year, we’ve got Saturn and Neptune teaming up to keep us broke and confused, Jupiter lying to us about how good the economy is while we’re all getting sick, and Mars ready to fight everybody. The struggle bus is full and there are no seats available.
I spent days with this chart, pulling midpoints, checking the Uranian planets, cross-referencing, because I needed to know if it was really as rough as it looks. It is. But I found a little light too, and we’ll get there.
The Aquarius backdrop
The chart has 12 degrees Aquarius rising, so the whole year is colored by Aquarius energy: the sign of the collective, the group, the movement, but paradoxically also the weirdo who doesn’t fit established norms. That tension between “we’re all in this together” and “but I’m special and different” runs through everything.
In the Tarot, Aquarius corresponds to the Star card, which carries a numerical value of 90. And 90 is loaded. The Hebrew word shamad, meaning to destroy, exterminate, make desolate (basically to wreck shop), appears 90 times in the Old Testament. The word “prophesy” also appears 90 times in the King James Bible, including this one: “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so.” False prophecy, and the people eating it up because the lies sound better than the truth.
So in 2026, with Aquarius rising, we get people forming movements, claiming to have answers, prophesying about what’s to come. How many are false prophets? And that shamad destruction energy is in the mix too: systems crumbling, things getting torn down. Sometimes you have to burn it down to build it better. We’re in the messy middle right now. The tower is falling and we’re all figuring out next steps.
But the Star is the card that comes after the tower falls. She’s a card of hope. She carries the memory of better days (remember when people had jobs and health care and enough money to cover rent? when five corporations didn’t own everything? what a time), and remembering better lights a fire under us to create better again. Hold that thought, because we’ll need her at the end.
The Sabian symbol for 12 Aquarius is a barometer: humanity’s ability to see what’s coming and prepare for it. When it’s working right, you get sharp observation and good judgment. When it’s not, you’re just going whichever way the wind blows, no conviction, just vibes. With Pallas the strategist conjunct the ascendant, we’re collectively reading the signs and trying to plan. We’re going to need every bit of that strategy.
Theme one: the great struggle
Saturn is in Pisces in the 2nd house, conjunct Neptune. The 2nd house rules money, material resources, food, and financial security, and Saturn-Neptune there breathes confusion, disappointment, poverty, feeling frozen about money. You’re holding what you’ve got with a tight fist, but you’re not even clear on what you actually have. If you’ve followed my forecasts, you know this Saturn-Neptune story has been showing up in US mundane charts for over a year now.
Saturn rules the 1st house here, so it represents the American people, and it rules the 12th too. We’re going through it mentally. Survival mode. A dark night of the soul where we don’t know who to trust. Chiron sits in the 2nd house as well: we’re being hurt by our financial situation and learning key lessons from the pain.
And then there’s Jupiter, ruler of the 2nd house and the 10th house of government, sitting in the 6th house of stress, overwork, and disease. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, which looks great on paper, but it’s retrograde, and the old aphorism says an exalted retrograde planet is a sick man at home. The economy looks like it’s thriving in the headlines, but people are sick and stressed. Jupiter opposes the Moon, which rules the 6th, so illness and stress come straight toward the people. On the dial, Saturn-Pallas and Mars-Saturn on the Aries point point to work stoppages and layoffs.
One bright spot: Jupiter-Chiron can mean luck in conditions where you were the outsider. If you operate on the fringes of an industry, or you got cast out of a job and started your own thing, 2026 could favor you.
What to do: don’t believe the hype, in the words of Flavor Flav. If someone tells you the economy is great but you can’t afford groceries, trust yourself. Tighten the budget now, build your reserve, and treat anything that sounds too good to be true financially as exactly that. Neptune in the 2nd house creates deception around money: people blurring the lines between what’s yours and what’s mine so they can steal.
Theme two: cold, calculated leadership
The Sun is conjunct Mars in Capricorn. In mundane astrology the Sun is leadership, and Mars is the military, fighting, war, and work. Together in Capricorn, a sign that doesn’t care about your feelings (I say this with love, as someone with Mars in Capricorn), it looks like leadership saying “we’re going to war, I don’t care how you feel about it, mission first.” There’s a Mars-Vulcanus signature here too, and Vulcanus is basically Mars on steroids: powerful, forceful activity, with some interpretations pointing to violence. I’m not fearmongering. I’m reading what’s in the chart, and what’s in the chart is leadership that is cold, calculated, and ready to mobilize.
People aren’t taking it lying down, though. Saturn-Zeus can mean resistance to war and military problems, and Uranus on the IC doubles the rebellion energy: sudden shocks, riots, political tension, upheaval. I went deep on this in my Uranus in Gemini video if you want the full pattern, because it changed America before and it’s doing it again. Uranus with Admetos is earthquake energy. Sometimes literal, sometimes financial, sometimes political, but a shock to the system either way, and it lands in the 4th house, the land and the heart of the people.
The Sun also opposes Hygiea, the asteroid of health, hygiene, and preventative medicine. While leadership focuses on conflict, the chart is telling us to focus on sanitation and prevention. A lot of y’all were slacking during COVID and slacked off more since. 2026 says get it together. Wash your hands. Leadership isn’t worried about your health; you have to be.
And the vibe of all this? Venus and Mercury are both in Sagittarius, and this is a preachy chart. Everybody knows the fun Sagittarius who roller skates and drives fast. This is the other side: the zealot, so convinced they have the truth that they become self-righteous and holier-than-thou. Mercury sits at the southern bending of the Moon’s nodes, a crisis around communication, children, and education. In Sagittarius, I can’t help thinking about the growing religious influence in schools: Texas adopting Turning Point USA curriculum, vouchers pulling funding from public schools toward parochial ones. Fiery hot sermons, but not the heartwarming kind. A lot of religion, not much spirituality.
What to do: stay informed but protect your peace. If you hold power anywhere (at work, in your community, in your family), lead with humanity. Don’t fall into cold Capricorn box-checking where people become collateral damage. And prepare for disruptions: political shocks, environmental events, economic surprises. Have a plan B, and maybe a plan C.
Theme three: the ashy moon
The Moon, which represents the people and our collective emotional state, is in Capricorn in the 12th house. Capricorn is the Moon’s detriment, and the Moon hates it there.
Quick story. When I was about 8, my mom took my brother and me on a road trip to Myrtle Beach, and on the way back we ended up overnight at a janky motel with horrendous red carpet. The room smelled like an ashtray, the sheets had cigarette burns, and if you walked across that carpet in white socks, the bottoms came up blackened like a Cajun chicken sandwich. We were fine, we drove home the next day, but that motel is what detriment feels like. You’re in the polar opposite of your home sign, on the road, with weird stains setting off the black light.
The Moon’s home is Cancer, a water sign. The Moon likes to stay moisturized, and in dry, earthy Capricorn, it’s ashy. A Capricorn moon is an ashy moon. So collectively we’re looking for the proverbial shea butter, some softness, some comfort, and it’s just not there. And because there’s no nourishment to be had, we escape into the 12th house: isolation, separation, retreat. On a personal level that could be moving abroad for a while (shout out to the Exodus Summit ladies, Stephanie Perry and Rashidah Dow), taking a sabbatical, or stepping back socially. Or it could be the unhealthy version: numbing out with substances, video games, junk food, doomscrolling. You know that thing you do too much of. That one.
The Moon is conjunct Vesta (devotion to a cause, but also isolation) and sits on the Vesta-Kronos midpoint, which can indicate citizenship issues, deportations, people cut off from their communities. And mundanely, the 12th house rules prisons, hospitals, and institutions, so it stays rough for everyday people caught in those spaces.
Here’s my advice: embrace solitude as medicine, not punishment. If you need to step back, step back. Say no to obligations that drain you. Meditate, even 5 minutes. Suffering lives in the noise; silence creates distance between you and the pain, and in that gap your intuition can finally speak. That’s the gift of the Star card, and of Aquarius. Paul Foster Case connected the Star to meditation and intuition, and the Hebrew letter he associated with it, Tzaddi, means fishhook: being caught, but in the sense of being drawn toward truth.
You chose this lifetime
That’s 2026. The Capricorn-Aquarius chart is saturated with Saturn energy, and Saturn is not warm and fuzzy. This is not lover girl, lover boy energy. I might tell you a joke, but I’ll never tell you a lie.
But if you understand what’s coming, you can prepare. Protect yourself financially. Take care of your health. Set boundaries, tap into your intuition, and let it guide you. And remember what the Star says: you didn’t come here to suffer. You came here to experience life and develop your gifts. Don’t let 2026 make you forget that.
