For once in my life I got to be responsive to the news. When Blac Chyna announced her surgery reversal journey in early 2023, removing her breast implants, taking out the silicone shots, dissolving the face filler, I’d already flagged weeks earlier that she was heading into a Neptune-moon phase. So let’s look at her chart, do a little medical astrology, and talk about why this transit explains the whole arc, including the sobriety.
Working without a birth time
We don’t have Chyna’s birth time, so no houses, no ascendant. (This is why I nag you about birth times. There’s a whole post about it.) The workaround: cast the chart for noon. That gives a moon around 25 degrees Pisces, and the moon is the only thing that moves fast enough for the missing time to matter much here.
Even in a timeless chart, a couple of things jump out. Her moon sits conjunct the North Node, which brings mothering, nurturing, womanly connections in close. And there’s a Venus-Chiron contact, love wounding, with a side of self-esteem struggle. I always orient myself in the natal chart before touching transits. Then we whip it around.
The main event: Neptune conjunct her moon
At the time of the announcement, Neptune sat at 25 degrees Pisces, exactly on that noon-chart moon.
A Neptune-moon conjunction dissolves the ground under you, and it tends to look like this: big spiritual changes, an urge to release things and move on, staring at your life asking “what have I even been doing, what is the point.” Moving house, often closer to water. And sometimes water damage follows you around. When I went through this transit I had water damage in my home, moved multiple times, and every place I stayed, even just visiting, had mold or a leak or a pipe issue. The water literally follows you.
Underneath it all is a craving for spiritual freedom, to be unencumbered by the material stuff. It’s the transit that makes a celebrity shrug and say “I could just go live on a farm.” (I’ve said before I think Kanye was in a Neptune-moon stretch during his walk-away-from-everything era, whatever else he has going on.)
The medical astrology part
Here’s where it gets specific. The moon rules femininity, the breasts, mothering. Neptune rules liquids and water, and Neptune contacts can bring water issues into the body. Silicone is a liquid. She described the shots making her sick: a liquid causing damage in the body, under an exact Neptune-moon conjunction. The symbolism writes itself.
Layer on the rest. Transiting Neptune was also square her natal Chiron (illness, the wound) and making a hard aspect to her natal Venus (beauty, and in her case, the beauty work itself). That same Neptune-moon axis was squaring her natal Saturn, and Saturn hardens things. She said the shots in her bottom had hardened, which is exactly why she was having them removed. Mars squaring the Neptune adds another sickness signature. If I had a birth time we could really go in, but even the noon chart is loud.
And the escape piece: Neptune-moon can pull people toward alcohol, drugs, and other ways of checking out. Chyna went the other direction and started a sobriety journey, which I love for her. I think that natal Saturn involvement gave her the structure to choose discipline inside a very foggy transit. Even the fact that she documented the whole thing on camera fits: the day she was all over the news, the sun was sitting with Neptune, and sun-Neptune loves a filmed journey.
Who’s next in line
I promised the list of celebrities heading into their own Neptune-moon transits around then: Kim Kardashian, Catherine Zeta-Jones, James Woods, Kathy Bates, Kesha, Ricky Martin, Eve, O.J. Simpson later in the year, Ciara closer to spring 2024. Watch for the themes: moving near the beach, stepping back from the spotlight, turning spiritual or philanthropic, depression or delusion, new or worsening substance issues, getting duped in a relationship or business deal, or simply not caring about money anymore. How it lands depends on the rest of the chart.
No shade to anybody who gets work done, and unconditional positive regard for everybody on that list, regardless of how you or I feel about them. But when you lose your sense of self under a Neptune-moon transit, the only thing that really saves you is spirituality, finding your center in a higher power. Chyna’s doing that in public, and I think that’s dope.
