Astrocartography sounds intense, but the mechanics are simple. Your birth chart is a snapshot of where the planets were when you were born, and those planets hit different depending on where on Earth you’re standing. Astrocartography lays your chart across the globe, and each planet draws lines on your personalized world map showing where its energy gets amplified for you.
Some lines make life feel easy and magnetic: you meet the right people, doors open, you glide. Other lines are where life busts your head to the white meat. And even if you never move or travel, the lines still matter. They explain why certain places, or even people and products from certain places, just feel different.
My Jupiter line runs straight through Texas. Jupiter is abundance, opportunity, growth, and help from above, and I have never once paid to go to Texas. Jobs, friends, somebody always funds it. Jupiter’s like, “don’t worry baby, I got the tab.” And when I’m there, your girl eats good. Jupiter is also the planet of boundlessness, and my appetite in the Lone Star State is a steady diet of gas station brisket, Tex-Mex, and Shipley’s donuts. That’s where the Jupiterian growth hits: my waistline. I’m scared to live there. I’d end up on My 600-lb Life waddling into the clinic talking about “it’s not me, it’s Jupiter.”

Chris Brown: LA, Paris, London
If you’ve followed Chris Brown’s career, you know Los Angeles is his stage for the music and the mess. His Mars rising line runs right through Southern California. Mars rules drive, action, aggression, impulse. It’s the “Knuck If You Buck” planet. On a rising line, the planet becomes your identity: with Mars, you’re Mars personified, and that’s how people perceive you whether you realize it or not.
Mars lines are powerful for go-getters and athletes. Unmanaged, the energy spills into violence, accidents, and drama. In Chris’s natal chart, Mars sits with Chiron and opposes Uranus: a volatile mix of pain, defiance, sudden blow-ups, and working yourself to exhaustion. LA amplifies all of it. The SWAT standoff at his mansion. The alleged gang ties (Mars rules blood, literally, and supposedly Chris is a Blood). Assaulting Rihanna, harassing Karrueche, allegedly assaulting his manager, breaking his mom’s car window at a rehab facility. Even the work ethic fits: Mars grinds until it breaks, and there was a news story about a stress seizure. Both truths belong here: he’s been open about PTSD, bipolar disorder, and an abusive childhood, which doesn’t excuse the harm he’s done, but the chart reflects that story, and LA does him no favors.
Paris, 2019: a whole different energy lights up, because his Saturn-Vulcanus lines run there. Vulcanus is one of the hypothetical planets of Uranian astrology, the planet of overwhelming force, and combined with Saturn things get real serious real quick: confinement, hypervigilance, walls closing in, even literal imprisonment. Not the free Paris James Baldwin wrote about; more the kind that has you printing a #FreeMe t-shirt. Sure enough, he was detained there on serious allegations. No charges, but the energy checks out.
London runs his Neptune line, a different flavor of trouble. Neptune rules alcohol, confusion, lies, and blurred boundaries. In 2023 he was accused of hitting someone with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub. A classic Neptune fog: messy, unclear, alcohol-fueled, no arrest.
Then 2025, same city, new chart. His solar return that year put Saturn right at the top of the sky over London, and this is the part people miss about astrocartography: timing matters. Your natal map stays the same, but each year different planets light up different places. A city that once felt confusing can suddenly become confining. Saturn on the midheaven is consequences, the planet of accountability that says handle your business or you will be handled. Saturn always collects. No extensions, no Afterpay, none of that. He was arrested in 2025 for the 2023 nightclub incident and posted $6 million bail just to leave the country, with a trial back in London in October 2026. Saturn lines are notoriously hard to leave; they keep you locked in until the lesson lands.
Now he’s moved to Nevada, right near his Uranus setting line. Lightning, unpredictability, reinvention. Life there will be erratic: new people, weird situations, constant changes. Not a place to settle down, but maybe he’s not trying to. And remember, we carry our birth charts wherever we go. His Mars-Uranus tension doesn’t disappear; it just plays out on a new stage.
Kendrick Lamar: the line that made a masterpiece
Sometimes the right line feels like alignment instead of pressure. When Kendrick Lamar toured South Africa in 2014, he was traveling near his Saturn overhead line. Same energy we just watched Chris Brown fight, but Kendrick met it halfway. He visited Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent decades imprisoned for standing on principle, and the legacy, the endurance, the integrity under pressure hit him hard. That’s Saturn: the slow burn that shapes your backbone.
South Africa also held Kendrick’s moon rising line, and that’s where the warmth came in, because even revolutionaries need a hug. He told his friend Dave Free he took his shirt off, was just with the people, and had “never felt love like that.” He said he felt like he belonged in Africa. That’s the moon: emotional connection, family, being embraced exactly as you are. Under a moon rising line you feel more like yourself. Your heart beats louder there.
Those two lines grounded him in responsibility and belonging, the weight and the warmth, and out of that trip came To Pimp a Butterfly, an album steeped in accountability, ancestry, and social conscience. And here’s the Saturn postscript: Saturn rewards effort, and Saturnian work gets recognized by authority. The album won critical acclaim and multiple Grammys, including for “i” and “Alright.” Sometimes your map lines you up with the exact environment that draws out the next version of you.

That moon line energy Kendrick felt in South Africa? I felt it in Lisbon, Portugal. Even before I arrived there was a sense of belonging. Friends from the States visited and treated me like I actually lived there. I had Thanksgiving with a whole community of Black expats who felt like family, warm and full, probably my favorite Thanksgiving of all time (please don’t tell my blood relatives). I took the African Lisbon Tour three times, learning about Portuguese colonization and the African legacy there. I met supportive, inspiring women and it was instant sisterhood. The neighborhoods, the homes, chef’s kiss, totally my aesthetic. One of my little spots was a Black-owned restaurant literally called The Fam.
Home, women, family, food, ancestry. All moon things. Whether it’s Kendrick in South Africa or me in Lisbon, moon lines bring you back to yourself through people and places that feel like family, even thousands of miles from home.
